SRCR '14 took place in Falmouth

STOICISM presented in the Symposium on Sustainability through Resource Conservation & Recycling '14 (SRCR '14) Symposium (UK)

3rd International symposium on sustainability through resource conservation and recycling '14 (SRCR '14) took place in Falmouth (UK during 10-12 June 2014). The scope of the symposium is to facilitate the exchange of information between experts working on resources and their mineral processing & extractive metallurgy.

Platform presentation made by Quentin Dehaine (Université de Lorraine, France) during SRCR'14 consisted in presenting some the results of the FP7 STOICISM project entitled “Rare-earth (Ce, La, Nd) and rare-metal (Nb, Sn, W) recovery from wastes of a kaolin production plant, Cornwall”. The contribution was timely also in view of recent policy developments related to resource efficiency in extraction (primary raw materials) and the valorization of waste (secondary raw materials) from historical waste dumps.

The experts from various industries working with minimising the waste flows and maximising the yield from new and historical wastes addressed in their contributions how to meet demand for rare earth and promote the benefits that the processing stages can bring to the future sustainable mining industry.
